Prayers for Japan
The devastation you are seeing on the news this morning is hard to comprehend for most of us.
Japan suffered a major earthquake and tsunami. The news is saying right now that many places could have a tsunami hit this morning. We are under a tsunami watch now. We luckily didn't even feel the earthquake here in Sasebo, which is about 10 hours south of Tokyo. I can't help but think "thank God it wasn't here". The time it hit was the exact time the kids are getting out of school. It was the first day I let my boys walk to school and back home by themselves. My daughter has a stomach virus and has thrown up all day starting at 3am this morning. I couldn't pick them up and texted my son to walk home. I texted him at 2:36...it hit about 5 minutes later. He texted me back but I never got it due to the cell phones going down since the main tower is in Tokyo. So I worried until they finally made it home about 10 minutes late. I had no idea about the earthquake so far away. I just think how scary that would have been if it would have been here. I can't imagine how frantic all of the parents are that are separated from their kids that are stuck in schools and they can't get to them.
As I watch the news tonight and see the destruction and devastation, it looks like "home". The home I wanted so desperately to leave just yesterday is now the place that I feel so connected to. It hit "home" for me. It sounds strange. I think "why Japan?"..this is such a sweet country with good people...why them? It is truly a sad day here. I pray for the many people so desperately needing a phone call from their loved ones...bless them, watch over them and keep them strong. I pray for those who have lost everything. I pray for those who lost their lives and those who lost the loves in their lives.
I will not be running the big giveaway this weekend. I don't think it is the right time for that...it's time for a weekend of being thankful to be here and thankful I am surrounded by my family. I hope you all understand the reason I have delayed it. I'm signing off until Monday morning.
Praying for you all!
ReplyDeletePraying for Japan this morning. Praying that you are safe across the world. We have had the same feelings when hurricanes have struck here in coastal Florida, but unlike earthquakes, we have warning. May today be a blessed day for you and your family. Having your children back home safe is an immeasurable sigh of relief.
ReplyDeletePrayers for you, your family, and Japan.

ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you and your family are fine. Your sharing the details of the time of day and what it means for families makes the tragedy more real and my prayers are for the families and the children. What a terrible disaster.
ReplyDeleteSo terrifying . There has been so much, first Queensland and other parts of Australia, then NZ and now Japan and beyond.
ReplyDeleteIt is also the time where the true beauty of most people shines through, I guess we are never as tested as in our true hour of need. Praying for the safety of the people of Japan and those others in the path of destruction that they can pull together and support each other in this time of tradgedy.
I'm so glad you are OK Marsha. I was so worried about you and your family. Many thoughts and prayers for Japan during this terrible time. xoxo
