Future fashion designers...cute as could be!

We had a great time at the Savvy Studio Workshop last weekend! The shoots were so much fun...great little models (recognize the one with braids? My sweet little Ava was a trooper modeling for all those photographers...having her best friend model along side her made it much more fun!)

Our guest speaker was amazing! Lisa Furey taught the girls so much...I even learned a ton! I have much more to blog about (it's been quiet on the blog lately)...so much blogging to catch up on! I'll get there (eventually). Enjoy some of the images for now of our future fashion designers in action.

We have a few seats left for the 2014 Alys Beach workshop!
Grab your seat here!

The Savvy Studio Workshops...new class in the works!

We are so excited to give a peek into the next workshop at the Savvy Studio... it will be two days filled with shooting and exploring the market of contemporary head shots. Each attendee will walk away with a portfolio of beautiful "fashion inspired" head shots AND beautiful images of herself! Yes...the attendees will have the opportunity to be the models. You will be "the client"...our makeup artist will work her magic...and you will be photographed by Marsha and the other attendees. There's no pressure for those not wanting images done...but it's an amazing experience and you'll love the images of YOU!

This workshop will be limited to a small group of attendees...and the cost will be $700 per person.

The date of the workshop is still being determined...if you are interested in attending, please email us at thesavvyphotographer@gmail.com. We are also deciding if the workshop will be held on a weekend or during the week... feel free to give us your suggestions.

Lisa Furey is joining us at the Savvy Studio Workshop in February!

We are so excited to announce that the talented and super sweet Lisa Furey will be joining us at the Savvy Studio Workshop February 21-23, 2014. She will be teaching the attendees all about “Creating Captivating Images”.

We ask Lisa to tell the Savvy readers a little more about the class and who she is...here's what Lisa had to say~

"Join me for a fun filled photography weekend as I walk you through some simple tips and tricks that will take your photos from ordinary to extraordinary.

During our time together, I will share my approach to photography from start to finish.  We will cover topics that include: choosing locations, looking for light, creating interesting composition, and posing your subjects.  After all of that, then it is time to complete the vision as we dive into post processing techniques using my favorite Florabella Collection Actions and Textures. I will show you how the elements tie together from shoot to edit.

Whether you are an amateur or a seasoned photographer looking to take your work to the next level, I promise that you will leave our weekend feeling inspired and ready to create images that will captivate and be admired."

About Lisa Furey~

Most of you know me as Lisa, from The Long Road to China.
My three passions in life are family, photography, and food.
I am a Sicilian mom (thus the love of food) to three beautiful blessings and like so many in this industry; my children are what inspired me to begin my photography journey.

Over the last three years, my love of photography opened many new doors and I began teaching other moms how to use their cameras to capture ordinary moments in extraordinary ways.

To date, I have taught and had the privilege of working with over 400 women online and through weekend workshops.  I am a CMPro Member and accredited by NAPCP.  I would be honored to have you come spend a weekend with me so we can explore the world of photography together. To take a little peek into my life, visit www.thelongroadtochina.com or www.2hipchics.com.

Click here to purchase your seat...they are selling quick!!
You can also read more about the agenda for the weekend.
We hope you join us!!

The Savvy Studio Workshops...coming soon!

I'm so excited to bring the Savvy Workshops to Atlanta...and they will be held in my own little dreamy space, The Savvy Studio. Having the opportunity to host them here means so much to me...it's the closest thing to welcoming you to my home...yet a space devoted just to inspiring others. I will be offering mini workshops monthly here along with photographing my clients on the weekdays.  Weekends will be devoted to workshops and styled shoots at the studio and around town. If you would like to join us (which I hope you do!), email me at marsha@thesavvystudios.com to get your name on the sign up list. Those on the list will have the first chance to sign up for the limited seats at the workshops and styled shoots.
I look forward to meeting you, inspiring you, and spoiling you will a great learning experience. I think I've learned the art of mixing business with pleasure when it comes to the Savvy Workshops...learning should be fun and the environment should be a beautiful, peaceful space...with lot's of new friendships formed and information to fuel your focus!

Camp Workshops, meeting fun people and photographing a lovely mama~ busy summer!

It's been a crazy busy summer here...as I'm sure all of you are feeling the effects of having kids home and less time to work. This blog has been neglected so much recently~ but in the end I'd rather say I neglected my blog more than my kids. So they have been a priority this summer...and I hope you understand. So basically I'm going to cram lots of info into one blog post...ready??

I went to camp...I've always wanted to say that...but it wasn't quite camp...it was a Summer Supper to kick off the launch of Camp Workshops...and it was lovely! My makeup artist (the lovely Claudia Mejerle) is one of the camp counselors and I heard about the event through her Facebook page...and I was dying to go. But had no desire to go by myself not knowing anyone else. I ended up picking up a fellow Atlanta photographer to attend with me~ even though we had never met before...it was a "blind supper date"...and I lucked out on having a great girl to attend with! Jen Wright (yep...you've probably heard of her if you follow the Baby As Art workshops) is the sweetest and funniest girl to spend an evening with (she's the blonde in the Instagram pics below...I told you she was fun). I also met some other fabulous people...and was completely honored to meet some Savvy readers! Nothing makes you feel better than having someone tell you that your blog changed their life and career path...makes it all worth it!!
 (Instagram pics below..pardon the quality)
Isn't it all adorable...they styled this event perfect...the branding, the food, the little touches made it all such a perfect evening out! To learn more about the Camp Workshop classes, visit their site and their Facebook page...maybe I'll see you at a class one day!

***
One of the wonderful girls I met at the supper was the lovely Anna from In Honor of Design. She runs a great blog and is extremely talented! She also is expecting her third baby...today!

And after meeting her and seeing her adorable belly, I knew I wanted to photograph her...and she agreed! So three days before her due date (which is today, did I already say that?) we got her in to the Savvy Studio and photographed away...and away. I couldn't stop (don't you know that feeling...you are getting so many great images and just keep going?) and I love the end result. To see more of her images, visit The Savvy Studio blog. (You can give us a like on Facebook too...we sure would love that!)

Thank you Anna for allowing me to capture this beautiful belly!

The Savvy Studio Grand Opening Party

The Savvy Studio...I've dreamed of opening this for so long and I'm thrilled to announce it's finally here!
We had our grand opening party last week...thank you to all of my dear friends and Savvy readers who joined us!

Tomorrow I will share some more about the space and the before pictures! I must admit I loved decorating the space...and I did it on a budget...very small budget...and I love how it turned out!

I'm also excited to launch my new site, The Savvy Studios. I've created the blog for the studio and my portrait business, Marsha Mifsud Photography. You can also see more pictures of the studio here...The Studio. I will bring in an associate photographer to photograph family and child portraits while I specialize in photographing women. I'd love it if you follow me on Facebook (how's that for a shameless plug)...I thank you for supporting me along the way these past three and a half years on the Savvy blog!

**The above images are from the talented Lisa Polucci. She is an amazing wedding and portrait photographer in the Atlanta area. I decided last minute to hire someone to photograph the event and I was so glad she waas available that night! She was great to work with and has a wonderful eye...thank you Lisa!!
